Athlete Series: IM Base Training
We kicked off Base Phase training three weeks ago with a bang. The bang was a FTP test and a 1000 yard TT to set new training zones. Since Jason had been doing a lot of running, he already had a run test under his belt so we did not do one at that time.
Coaching Update: USAC Certified
In 2018 I dipped my toe into the cycling world. I was amazed at the power that these women could produce! I did well in road races, but lacked in critierums. I learned a lot about tactics and racing in close proximity to other riders! I’ve raced my way up to a Cat. 3 rider. Over the last few years my excitement and passion for triathlon has not wavered, but my excitement and passion for cycling has continued to grow.
Athlete Series: The Start of IM Maryland Training
It wouldn’t be true Ironman training if it didn’t start out with a minor setback right? As Jason was prepping for his initial base training for Ironman Maryland I received a text: “So, you know how I felt fine yesterday? Well I woke up not feeling fine today. I’ve tested positive for Covid”. Okay.
New Athlete Series + Meet Jason
I’m so excited to bring you another athlete training series. The season spent following Kelly’s Ironman journey had several folks reach out to me telling me how much they enjoyed the series. Kelly inspired many athletes to keep training through the high’s and low’s of a year dedicated to Ironman; isn’t that amazing? He also inspired one BEST athlete of mine in particular: Jason Spruiell. Jason reached out and volunteered to have his journey documented this year! So, while Jason gears up for Ironman, we are going to document his training. The good, the bad, the ugly. I hope you follow along for this ride as we get started.
