Summer Training: Adapting to the Heat
Summer is in fully swing. Temps are soaring, humidity is excessive, and training blocks are at an all time high. Am I right?! Training in these less than ideal conditions is tough stuff. It requires a bit more planning and the willingness to throw pace out the window. For a lot of us, that’s hard. But, I have a few tips to help you get through the dog days of summer.
USA Cycling Masters Nationals: Race Recap!
It was hot. 90 degrees with 10-13 mph winds. I sat on the trainer in the shade of our van with ice packs down my jersey doing my best to keep my core cool while I opened up the legs and elevated the heart rate for the upcoming event. After the first bit of warm up it was time to make final preparations and roll to the start line. Nerves were subsiding slightly.
Mid-Season Additions: Taking on New Athletes!
I work with triathletes, runners, and cyclists and meet them wherever they are in their current training cycle. The goal is to build safely and smartly over time to help each person meet the goals they set for themselves. We come up with a plan to enhance training while still maintaining a healthy relationship with the sport, with work, and with family and friend time.
